About Us

In 1890, our company began as a small plumbing shop on Summer Street in Bristol, Connecticut. At that time, technicians were dispatched on horse and wagon and the company was called Shaffer Marsh. In the early 1900s, the company relocated to Main Street in the buildings we occupy today. The company grew and incorporated heating, electrical and duct fabrication, becoming The Shaffer Company.​

 

Fast forward to 2021, when we expanded again, joining forces with Beacon Mechanical in Granby. The newly formed Shaffer Beacon Mechanical maintains offices located in both Bristol and Granby. In Bristol we are on Main Street, in the original historic Bristol Savings Bank building, and in Granby on Mechanicsville Rd. With this expanded footprint our customer base spans all of Central CT, primarily from the MA border to 84 and from Litchfield to the CT River.

• Our Licensed Technicians are thoroughly trained and are backed by many years of experience in their trades. Shaffer Beacon Mechanical is a registered apprentice training center for the State of Connecticut and has helped graduate many of the area’s Licensed Technicians.​

• Our Oil Delivery Department offers the best in home heating oil and diesel fuel delivery to residential and commercial customers throughout Central CT.
   

​As the company who installed the first air conditioning system in Bristol, we have built a reputation as specialists in various fields, dating back to the advent of every current technology offered in our industry. Our office staff, which provides design and engineering skills to the other departments, has members holding a vast field of technical knowledge acquired both through formal training and passed down through many years of experience.
